I have had a note at my work to put on our notice board about some special cinema showings in the half-term holidays. I have contacted the person who sent it and he has said it is OK for me to post it here in case it is of interest to anyone. John Franklin runs 'The Fathers' Club' - support and guidance for fathers of autistic children. During half term they have 2 special cinema showings that are open to children with autism and their families. They are being held at the Odeon Cinema, Lockmeadow Complex, Barker Road, Maidstone. The first one is on Sunday 25th May and is the Disney family comedy, The Game Plan. The second one is on Thursday 29th May and is The Spiderwick Chronicles. Doors open at 10am, film starts at 10.30am for both showings. Both are free for all the family.
He told me that the Odeon have done this previously but they are not allowed to advertise their own 'promotions'. He took on the advertising last year and over the space of 4 months.. in his words 'we had over 550 bums on seats, it was great'.
I also have more details about the Fathers Club that he runs. Informal monthly meetings are held in Dartford, Maidstone and Folkestone. Feel free to CAT me and I can forward the flyers that he has sent me. I won't be picking up e-mails until tonight though.
