What do I do? School can't provide a toilet for DS2!!

I am at my wits end. Everything I have tried has ended up with me banging my head against a brick wall
My Ds2 has CP - he can walk around inside OK (on a good day) but outside he relies on a wheelchair. He is 5 and not toilet trained - nowhere near in fact. He has been accepted to start at a local ms primary school in September, but it is tiny with only 36 kids on roll. There is no toilet/changing provision for him, and no spare space to put anything. The school needs an extension and applied for money last september, but were refused It is only now when the Inclusion service have looked around the school that they can see what I have been talking about for the past few months. But now it is too late to get funding for an extension, never mind build it. The lovely man at the LEA has suggested that I collect him from school, take him home and change his nappy if he soils it. WTF?? Has anyone had any experience of this before? How did you get it rectified?
Thanks, Nat.

Someone linked to this document about schools and continence policies. It mentions things like schools who expect parents to do nappy changes and the DDA.

Good luck.

Thanks coppertop. I have also rung Scope and they gave me some good advice.

Can't really offer any advice but best wishes with getting this sorted as soon as.

Nat1h - there is absolutely time for them to get one of the portacabin style accessible toilets! I would write immediately to your MP - quoting sections of the DDA, and possibly getting a lawyer. Since your child's ability to atend the school rests on this, I wonder if IPSEA might be able to help?

What a nightmare - sympathies.

Thanks Blu. Have just emailed my MP - she is fab and has helped me out in the past. Will ring IPSEA tomorrow - hadn't thought of them!
