Hi

my son is currently awaiting asd assessment and has had a severe speech regression… he would talk at age 2, sing nursery rhymes, name animals and their sounds, call out to me and ask for items such as an apple or bubbles and now it’s all gone… he also recently had a febrile seizure when he was very sick and had a high fever… the gp asked me if we had ever noticed any absent seizures or gelastic (laughing) seizures - and I didn’t know this was a thing but yes to both..i understand that teh correct way to diagnose would be going to a neurologist possibly for a eeg or mri

i also would like to see if there are any abnormalities in the brain at all as the regression has been so sudden and severe… the gp agreed to refer us to neurology. However now I am finding it challenging getting a neurologist on board its a whole world of oh if it is autism then just wait for ten assessments…we are under bupa healthcare and I wanted to ask if anyone has been In a similar situation and were you able to get any scans / answers ?
