DS2-friendly fairy tale costume?

Ok (deep breath) - DS2's class is having a 'fairy tale ball' next week. All the children have been asked to come in costume - has to be from a fairy tale, not a super hero or TV character. They wouldn't mind at all if DS2 didn't do it, but I'd quite like him to join in. The problem is, he won't wear hats, masks, beards etc. In fact, his costume will have to be as much like normal clothes as possible. Any ideas, oh creative ones? The only idea I've had so far is to dress him all in green, sew on a few leaves and send him in as a beanstalk [hmmm].

Wee willy winkie, in his PJs with a candle stick?

Blandmum · 07/05/2008 14:08

I just realised I condensed wee willy and Jack be nimble there

Dick wittington, ordinary kit and a toy cat.....pole with a hankie tied on it ?

Little Jack Horner ? Does he like pies ?

wrong season, but if you have access to any halloween stuff, you could send him in as a pumpkin (from cinderella).

Wee Willie Winkie I like - though he tends to take his PJs off at every opportunity. Naked DS2 maybe not a good look for school . Dick Whittington/ Little Jack H both poss - would have to tie the cat/pie onto him somehow though, as he won't hold on to anything for long unless he can see the point of doing so!

Any sort of prince - sparkly top borrowed off the girl next door type of thing, maybe a cloak if he would wear it?

He could just be Jack from Jack and the beanstalk rather than the beanstalk itself . Maybe 3/4 length trousers or an old pair cut off to look frayed would suffice to make a "poor" look. Similar for Hansel.

I've had an inspiration - what about Pinocchio? Red circles on cheeks, cut off trousers+ braces, shirt underneath, bug bow tie. Could prob get away without a hat. He looks a bit like Pinocchio anyway...

Prince charming - just very smart shirt & very formal.

I think Pinnochio sounds good if it counts as a fairy tale...

and if I could spell it correctly.

Oh bugger - isn't it a fairy tale? It's got a fairy in it!

Update - see my profile page for pics of the big day. He was a star - sent in a spare set of clothes in case he couldn't cope but he was fine. Took them off the minute he walked back in through the door though

sorry - you'll have to tilt your heads to see it!
