16 month old vomits the morning after a meltdown (suspected ASD)

My 16 month old is under several professionals for suspected ASD, GDD and SPD.

Over the past 3-4 weeks he has struggled more and more with social situations and is only eating yogurt and drinking milk. Literally won’t touch anything else.

On Thursday I took him to soft play, he screamed the whole time (I left after 10-15 mins), in the car on the way home he continued to scream and when we got home he was still upset for around 30 minutes. After this he didn’t eat anything but drank milk.

The next morning he woke up and vomited. Thick white sick. But was fine straight afterwards and fine all day Saturday.

Saturday evening my FiL came round and brought his dog. Jack (my child) usually gets upset when people come into our house but FiL brought his dog. Jack had a massive meltdown. Yesterday he also didn’t eat a single thing just drank milk.

This morning he was sick again. Same time, just after waking, same kind of sick, same smell. And is absolutely fine now.

It can’t be a coincidence that it was after 2 stressful days and he was fine in between?? I am so out of my depth with all this ASD/GDD/SPD I feel like I’ve no idea what I’m doing and feel terrible that he’s been so stressed out he’s actually been sick.

If he is only eating milk and yoghurt that’s all he’s going to throw up, so I wouldn’t read much into the kind of sick you are getting. How are his nappies? Does he have an upset stomach? Does he take any supplements?

I spoke to his HV last week about his nappies. His stools are always little balls but never seems to have stomach ache. He has a multi vitamin yes.

If he’s genuinely only drinking milk and eating yoghurt, that sounds unusual.

He is. He was having ready salted crisp until about 6 days ago when he decided he hated them 😂

I would up his water as he sounds dehydrated. Is he active and happy?

Does DS have reflux?

Have a look at ARFID. Push the GP to refer for support for this.

Meltdowns can affect digestion.
