First 10 hours funded by SA+ - that can't be right????

Please someone tell me that's not correct! We have been chasing DS1's statement for nearly a year and he's only just 3. They have agreed 3 sessions of up to 3 hours a week of LSA time and 5 sessions from September, however today they sprung on me that the first 10 hours should be funded by the school's SA+ budget. Is that right? We send DS to a montessori nursery so they don't even have SA+. Is this a common ruse of LEA's or do we have to pull him out of nursery? HELP!!! (Please )

SA+ usually means it's support by the school and outside agengies (maybe S&L or occ therapist etc)

Yes, they can make an agreement that the first ten hours are through SA+, BUT only if the school agrees. In practice, most do, but in law, if the school can't/ won't pay for any part of what's in the Statement, the LEA has to pick up the full tab.

See IPSEA website - it's in the case law section somewhere.

Oh thanks - was just about to head to IPSEA and take a look. I just know that there is no money to fund any extra support and that being a non-maintained school they don't have SA+ or that budget. I guess this is the problem with going private...
