we go to panel tomorrow to determine where and how my son will be educated.

Best case scenario would be panel decide DS meets criteria for special autistic unit attached to mainstream school.

Worst Case scenario would be DSs needs can be adequately met in mainstream.

Other decisions that COULD be made include

DS to attend E/B unit but that would mean travlling to next county and over 3 hours travelling a day
DS needs a special school BUT its not available so they dump him back in MS to fail!

Am feeling really anxious. Dont know what will happen if the panel dont have a plan for DS after tomorrow as PRU have already said he cannot stay after friday! The PRU are hoping a school will be allocated tomorrow and that DS will be starting reintergration ASAP but i cant see that happening!

Maybe tomorrow too we should hear back from CAMHS about formal DX.

All fingers crossed for you!

(is there also the option that they could name m/s with unit but not the unit itself, iyswim - because then he'd still have access to the unit for brief periods)

At the end of the day, you will win here - maybe not now, but in September at Tribunal.

'twill all be fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine in the end

daisy5678 · 27/04/2008 21:01

Bw, they will have to provide home tuition if PRU boots him out and there is no school in place...that is their legal responsibility.

What you said GMS about admission to mainstream but with access to unit is the PERFECT solution and makes the most sense BUt as we all know LEAs dont do common sense! If DS got admission to the mainstream part he cannot access the unit or its facilities/trained staff and its been agreed by the head of the MS/Unit school that DS would NOT cope in the MS alone. The ONLY way this particular school would work for DS is if he got admission to the unit and he could then access the MS with a specially trained LSA and the unit area when he needs it!

I get you.

bonkerz · 27/04/2008 21:24

must admit that right now i dont know how its going to go. Im feeling deflated and tired of it all.
The PRU actually sent me confrimation of DSs exclusion which was good BUT the letter had another childs name used 3 times in it and DSs date of birth was out by 2 days!!

good luck!

bonkerz · 28/04/2008 07:39

thanks guys, gonna be really hard to get through today knowing my sons future 9well till sept when we can go to appeal) is being decided. I really dont want to have to take LEA back to SENDIST! FGS the LEA got blasted less than a year ago for refusing to issue an assessment i really dont think SENDIST will like being bought in again for me to tell them LEA STILL not meeting DSs needs. Surely today the fact that DS has had his statement for 3 months but NOTHING has been done about it should swing it our way!
Gonna try and keep busy today and will try and ring CAMHS later if no call by 12.

daisy5678 · 28/04/2008 20:58

So....?! (meant to add, any luck with dx from CAMHS today?) me crap @ computers today

bonkerz · 28/04/2008 21:05

Absolutely nothing today from anyone. Made phone calls to CAMHS at 8.30 and again at 12 asking for doc to ring me but he hasnt so will be ramraiding them tomorrow.
As for LEA meeting i have heard nothing so will also chase that up first thing. I can already tell tomorrow is going to be emotionally unbearable! thanks for thinking of me guys!

I think that you should present CAMHS with your phone bill

bonkerz · 28/04/2008 21:16

I swear i will present them with alot more more tomorrow! Have been trawling the NAS website and found some wicked stuff on the various degrees of meeting triad of impairments and about how ASD tarits are not present when child is assessed the was DS did and loads of other damning evidence like how it is the most obvious route to balme parents and their bond with child when really the underlying problem is ASD!!!!!

www.nas.org.uk/nas/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=1419&a=2224 this is what i have been reading and it all makes perfect sense to me BUT obviously these trained docs at CAMHS either dont have internet or dont keep up to date im not sure what BUT if i can find this info why cant they?

OP posts:
bonkerz · 28/04/2008 21:31

must tell you something that happened today though and is happening more often! Ds has always muddled up words and phrases and its always been quite cute and we have laughed etc BUT now we know its to do with the ASD stuff we are taking more notice of it TBH. He asked me today if he could download his orange juice!!Obviously he meant dilute!!!
