How do I know what level my child is working at.

DS has Autism and attends a SS. He is in Year 4 and in the coming spring both Year 4 and 5 parents are being invited to a meeting about potential secondary schools. The nearest school takes pupils working between Year 1 and Year 4. DS is mixed in his abilities in different subjects so his anywhere between EYFS and Year 2 at the moment. How do we know what school is right for him, he’s ability will likely change in the next couple of years

Speak to the possible schools. Visit if possible. Uneven development isn’t uncommon. Speak to the current school and local parents too. Also look at any recent input from the e.g. ed psych.

They should tell you where he’s working in school reports (and if they don’t ask why not). They should be advising you on a range of options.
