Oh I forgot to tell you all - she said 3 words, together!

And she did it a few times as well, the same words but she said 'Hello blue bear', very, very clearly and they were said as seperate words.
It was a great moment. In fact her speech is coming on a treat.

I've always tried to teach her to say "Charlotte' when I say, and sign' "what's your name?", and she has always responded by saying "name", with a big nod and and a big smile, bless her. Well yesterday she actually answered me and said her name, and then.... she pointed to me, signed and said "name, mummy" and did the same to everyone else in the room! How clever is she!

She's very clearly telling people where she wants them to sit etc etc, I've really seen a huge improvement in her speech.

Amazing how suddenly these things just click into place.

We had her fitted for a new standing frame as well today. So hope that area will see some improvemnets as well, that would be wonderful.

mum38 · 10/01/2005 15:51

Not sure if we've talked on mumsnet before but I have a ds with speech and language problems so I know how magical it is when it all starts to fall into place. We didn't start with Makaton until Dd was nearly 3.5. it helped us alot-we only wish we had learnt about it earlier!

chonky · 10/01/2005 16:55
