Assessment for children & Family help and early child development team?

Been referred to community paediatric teams as they suspect a developmental delay also physio, but now past week she's suddenly started trying to walk (not sure if I cancel that?)

But got a referral for an assessment for children and family health and early child development teams..

What is this referral? What do they do? Does this indicate what issue they are leaning towards in regards to my LO? (There have been a few ideas thrown about but nothing concrete)

Don’t cancel the physio!

Try not to worry. What specific teams cover varies in different areas. In some areas, the children and family health team is what the team the HV is part of. The early child development team is likely to be about supporting young DC whose development is delayed. Neither indicate a specific diagnosis.

Ah we were referred to sleep clinic through HV, then physio through paediatrics so perhaps paeds and HV have come together? Hence the group assessment?

I have been calling a lot for support 😅 I'm trying to get her out and about, but her delay is making it hard for groups. Toddlers too far ahead so it's hard when they run about and she's not overly mobile but she's too active for baby groups..then there is the awkward difficulties that put other parents on edge 😭😭😭

Do you have any groups specifically for DC with additional needs locally? Some special schools hold playgroups, so it is worth checking if any do locally.

Does DD attend nursery?

If your area has Portage, it is worth asking for a referral.
