My four and a half year old ds is moderately deaf and has a severe speech delay, and he has NO sense of road safety at all!
It's worse when it's cold and rainy as he has his hat on that covers his hearing aids, but yesterday on the school run to collect ds1 he just ran straight across the road by the school. I was standing next to him but he was just too quick and slipped through my grip. He did look and there were no cars coming so he chose just to cross the road. (Obviously he has to do this outside the bloody school where my parenting skills can be properly scrutinised!)
I think what I need is a book or video illustrating road safety as he is a very visual learner and I want to get this issue sorted sharpish! If anyone knows of anything that could help I would be very grateful.
By the way, was taking no chances today, threatened him with wriststrap if didn't hold my hand.
