General election and FIL is judging us again

With the general election coming up, FIL is spouting his bigoted views again. Dh works but doesn't earn much because he fits being self employed around the children's needs. I get carers allowance. 4 of the dc get dla/pip. Fil has been moaning about the dc getting dla even though they aren't "properly disabled" (only wheelchair users with PMLD count apparently).

I have 2 dc at home full time because they have finished school/college and paperwork and meetings coming out of my ears because I've got 3 dc changing education settings in September and one being assessed for an ehcp so my patience is wearing thin at the moment.

Can you reduce/stop contact?

How awful his attitude is, it’s none of his business about the children’s disabilities and their financial help towards it.

I wouldn’t discuss anymore about this with him OP and if he brings it up change the subject and of course reduce contact if you feel comfortable.

Thank you. Unfortunately the dc absolutely adore him and would be devastated if we reduced contact. Normally I ignore him or point out that the school obviously agree with me as they applied for both the younger dc ehcp. It's just magnified at the moment with general election and he keeps going on about how he wants to vote for the people who stop immigration and make everyone not working get a job. He makes me doubt myself and wonder if he's right, even though I know he is talking rubbish and the dc need all the support they get.

And when people get to a certain age and can't work any more we put them to sleep as there is no point to them?

I hope he keeps his opinions away from the children at least.
