Hi all,

DS5 is on the ASD/ADHD pathway, though no diagnosis yet.

He has absolutely no understanding of time at all. Any unit (second, hour etc) or descriptor (yesterday, tomorrow) means nothing at all to him….

We use visuals and things like “one sleep” to tell him but he is just so confused. He asks questions about when things happened or are happening but then gets angry because he doesn’t understand the answer.

anyone else have similar? Any tips to help? I feel like I’ve tried everything I can think
if!

thanks 😊

DD11 was exactly the same and unfortunately it just came as she grew older. We did Now and Next, which was the best she could achieve at the time; then we migrated to a weekly calendar on the fridge, now she has her own calendar on her tablet and we add notes to the dates for her.
I really do empathise with you, because the build up to Christmas or her birthday was a nightmare- she just didn't understand that it was an event in the future. In the end we had to wait it out until she matured cognitively a bit.
