Bl**dy hell - DS2 has spot of decay on front milk tooth

Just when we'd got him used to going to dentist too. He waited for 20 minutes in the waiting room with no fuss, opened his mouth, didn't bite the dentist - and then the dentist spots this brown mark on his lower front tooth.

I feel really bad - we do brush his teeth 2x a day but it's often pretty quick. And he has a sports bottle of diluted pear juice going all the time - has to because of all the supplements he takes. Snacks all the time too - mostly grapes, bananas and rice cakes but some biscuits as well.

Anyone else had this? I am DREADING him having to have further treatment (dentist says not atm as tooth will hopefully fall out before it spreads - but he hasn't lost any teeth yet at 5.5)

I'm not a dentist so i don't really know but I think baby teeth are not as resiliant as adult teeth and will naturally 'wear away' even on healthy diet and regular brushing. I don't think there is any reason to feel guilty.

It might not be decay. It might be a stain. DS2 (12) has had a brown stain on one of his back teeth for many years. The dentist just checks it out every 6 months to check that it isn't getting soft. It's one of his first teeth so will fall out sooner or later.
