My daughter is 11 years old she was right on target with her milestones and was very confident up to the age of about 5, at this point she became very shy, started chewing things that ruined her baby teeth, and by ruined i mean warn them down that much they was barley visable this prompted me to take her to the doctors and dentist at the age of 7. They both raised concerns of autism, her first school started assesments a few months before she left school but assesments was never compleated and nothing really came from it, fast foward to now shes just turned 11 and when i think about when she was younger, she done the whole hand flapping, spinning, scared of a few noises like hand dryers, vaccume, etc.. no food could touch each other or be mixed in, shes still like this now and a very picky eater, shes very shy, dont make friends easily, shes a right chatter box at home but very very scared when it comes to anyone she dont know well, she has a thing about clothes being uncomfortable especially seams of clothing. She gets wound up really easily and very emotional, she struggles at school with most topics, loud noises really bother her and she makes very little eye contact. All this has become more apparent since iv had my son now 5 who was diagnosed with autism and gdd at the age of 3. Iv sat down and spoke to her and shes refused assesments but today shes turned to me and said she wants to be checked as she believes theres something wrong with her and dont want to leave it any longer. I know its harder to diagnose in girls then it is boys, how do i approach the school? What do i say for them to take notice as she shadows others at school and is very well behaved. Im affraid they wont listen as from the outside looking in she seems like any other child its all the little quirks we see at home that really stand out now
