How long did you have to wait for a review of child disability payment?

Hello,

Just after an idea of what others have been through. My son is 9, there have been many many issues over the years, and in December he was diagnosed with ASD &ADHD. He tics, will only eat certain foods, struggles with sleep, fixates on subjects he finds interesting to the point it takes over his life at times, struggles to regulate and has incredibly low self esteem. I have work so so hard and changed jobs until I found one to fit, I have taken him to outdoor school which of course I funded when the school didn't t want him in FT, I ensure he gets time with a friend outside school (this is the first year he has had a proper friendship, but still needs some help with it). I scaffold his life and I've actually managed to get him to a better place. But, I have to work during school hours only, partly because he is not allowed at ASC as they were unable to cope, and when I have had to work in the evenings he gets very very upset, also, lack of sleep for us. DS will fall asleep in class at his desk or find a cupboard.

I applied for Child Disability Payment in March 2023 after one of the mums at the outdoor school told me too. We receive the lowest care and mobility.

I updated them with his diagnosis in December and asked for a review. I am on my knees for income, I'm hoping to get middle element but not sure I will. I really struggle to write negatively about DS, and also, after 6 years of being told his issues weren't real, or due to me being a single parent, I don't even know the difference, I don't know where my role as a carer comes in.

Has anyone got any insight into this? They told me today they are no longer providing progress reports due to such a heavy volume of work. We live in Scotland, any input greatly appreciated.

Hi 👋
well done for all you are doing for your son! It’s so hard.
I applied for change of circumstances for DLA in January and at that time, they said up to 20 weeks. Other people seem to be hearing sooner than that though. I’m in England so that might make a difference.
it certainly sounds like you should get MRC
