Hello

We have just been awarded DLA but my dd is 16 in two months. I haven't had the letter yet but will I have to apply for PIp right now.

She seems so young not adult yet.

For anyone recently awarded how soon before or after age 16 were you awarded?

Once DD is 16 she, or you if you become her appointee, will be invited to apply for PIP. For existing DLA claims, DWP write a few months before 16 to inform them of the change and asking if an appointee is required. They write again a couple of months beforehand to remind people of the upcoming change. If DD will require an appointee you don’t want to slip through the net, so I would contact DWP about this.
