Dyslexia assessment or general assessment from Ed. Psych?

DD is in year 4 and struggles with spelling and maths. School are suggesting I get her assessed for dyslexia because the screening tests they have used suggest she is at risk.
She has an older sister who is autistic. Would it be more useful to have an overall assessment for DD or should I just focus on dyslexia? She's not showing autistic behaviour at all, but I think she struggles to understand and follow maths/ English lessons. She had an EHCP which was for a speech disorder which was stopped because her speech issues have resolved. Her reading is good although her comprehension is not as strong.
Thanks for your time.

Personally, I would go for a comprehensive ed psych assessment rather than an assessment by a dyslexia assessor.

Are you sure the EHCP should have ceased? Are you still within the appeal window?

I will check her EHCP details, but it was removed at the end of Year 2 so I believe it's probably too late.

Yes, the overall assessment is what I'm leaning towards too. Do you have any idea how to find a reputable EP? I've not had to source one privately before.

You won’t be able to appeal the EHCP ceasing, but you should consider whether you need to request another EHCNA.

Word of mouth is best. It depends on what you want. If you post where you live, someone might have some suggestions. If you request another EHCNA and the LA agrees to assess, an EP assessment will be part of the needs assessment.

I'm in Hampshire. Looking for EP recommendations and hard to know where to start!

See if your LA has a SEND parents’ Facebook group, you can ask for recommendations there.

If you are in Hampshire all the following are within travelling distance: Nicola Weisfeld, Julie Garbett, Catharine Pierce, Jemma Levy, Ruth Birnbaum, Vivienne Clifford, Valerie Hero.
