...are "new improved recipe"!

Grrrr - bloody Marks and Spencer! One of the few things that DS1 really really liked was M&S tinned mince. And now they've changed the recipe ("improved" it, sic) and - yes you guessed it - he spat it out!!!! Thanks M&S!

(Needless to say, I doubt that anyone who wasn't on the spectrum could have detected any difference - I certainly couldn't!)

aaaargh - major sympathies.
Could you contact M&S and ask to buy up all the 'old inferior' mince still in stock? And then (if you can get any) v v slowly start adding a teaspoon at a time of the new to old?

Your ds1 sounds just like dh! I think he would definitely agree that "new improved recipe" is cause for complaint. The usual reaction is "And what the [insert expletive of choice] was wrong with the old bl**dy recipe???!" The fallout from the changes to the Heinz soup recipes lasted weeks.

He tries to buy up the old recipe stock as quickly as possible - which is why our house now resembles a soup kitchen.

BTW can anyone find buckwheat flour anywhere at the moment? Buggered if I can.

dh yells out at 'new improved recipie' as well. he used to love cheese and bacon pasta bake, homepride one, but then theychanged it and now its rank apparently. i dont like it anyway, but dh loved it. now i end up having to make cheese sauce pasta myself instead of him doing it.

its a nightmare one boy i know will only eat red pack walkers crisps but he wont have them if the packet is different like when they put book tokens on them! my boy loves litkats but only the two finger ones and he wont eat them if broken, got my hand stuck in the swimming vending machine trying to catch the kitkat, then they changed them from foil wrapper he wouldnt have them now they have changed them back, the joys of autism

DH searched right to the back of the shelves (removing all the "new improved recipe" cans first) to discover four remaining tins of the old style stuff! I am going to send an email to M&S asking them to send us any remaining cans!

I think it isn't the taste so much as the texture - the new recipe stuff is not as smooth - so I am going to try whizzing it in the blender to see if that helps (DS1 will eat home-made bolognese sauce as long as it's been blended smooth).

Jimjams I have some in the cupboard - Doves Farm which I got online from a firm which the Doves Farm site pointed me to - Organics online or something?

ooh thanks jmb (haven't "seen" you for ages- all well I hope) . It's doves farm that seems to have disappeared off supermarket shelves. Did find 2 small bags in a health food shop and they said there was a bad harvest or something and there's a real shortage at the moment. Will check out the online stuff. Thanks
