I like to soend a quiet hour on mumsnet ( OK or more ) and especially enjoy going through the whole of the SN board. I read every thread even though I only comment on AS stuff usually.

I like the fact that this is an opt in board and that usually it is a relaxed and 'safe' enviroment away from the main boards and the misunderstandings etc on the main boards.
I have found it very difficult this week that we have had an MM style invasion of people wanting to pick fights about the whole JH issue.
I am up for reasonable debate but I have found the smart arse confrontational style of the 'new' members upsetting .... actually upsetting is probably too strong a word. It has felt very much like walking down the street with DS2 and having people pointing - that terriby exposed thing you get. I guess I am used to it on the steeet so I am kind of geared up whereas stupidly ( and yes I do realise it is stupid ) I have always felt quite safe here.
The whole JH thing has just added to the way I fear for my son - the stories of people with learning difficulties being attacked for a bet are bad enough but having this whole 'people with SN are disposable' thing touted around is hideous to me.

God I am just rambling but feel the need to express my frustration.
Think I will toddle off for a week or two and come back when the bull baiters have gone....

ahve to say i know how you feel. i have been disapointed that mn hq once again has allowed this to happen.
what ever you do don't leave. stick around. i think we need to ignore th e2 shit stirrers. (send them to coventry)

2shoes · 13/03/2008 11:48

are you on TTR?

pagwatch · 13/03/2008 11:52

Can't be on TTR because I don't know what it is

email me at [email protected]
i will explain

Taliesintraction · 13/03/2008 11:56

I wanted to say that i am really sorry if anything I have said has offended.

It was not my intention.

Neither was it my intention to be confrontational.

I cannot agree that anything I have presented should be read as people with LD are in some way disposable or less valuable.

That is exactly the opposite to what I think.

needmorecoffee · 13/03/2008 11:59

I wonder why those without SN children want to be here unless they want to learn?
Getting tired of being told I am wrong when I have a severely brain damaged child and one with Aspergers.
Maybe, like the BMW tit parked outside my house in dd's bay are jealous?

2shoes · 13/03/2008 12:02

why would someone post in sn when they havn't got a child with sn and seem to have no interest in being helpfull or making freinds.

2shoes · 13/03/2008 12:02

i know what you mean nmc

pagwatch · 13/03/2008 12:05

NMC
yes you are right.
I think it is tiring more than anything else.

tbh I am just pissed of now
if you can't even ask a question with out being treated qith suspicion. what is the point

lourobert · 13/03/2008 12:58

Ive not been posting on any on these threads and have thought best to just avoid to be honest, I dont feel like I have the energy to get involved with anything right now although I have read with intent.

It has been upsetting to read!!the SN special eeds board has been my sanity since my sons birth and although i may post often I always read everything and learn so much, gain inspiration and often feel better for having logged on. Thats not been the case recently

SoupDragon · 13/03/2008 13:09

[invader]

Is this the MOSunday thread? If so, the reason "non SN MNers" came in is because it was linked to on an "in the news" thread about the same thing. Some may well not have noticed which topic it was in.

I opt-in to SN because I don't like to exclude it.

Um. Ouch a little bit.

What soupy said. I clicked on it through a link that Fio posted in In The News. Not that I posted on the MOS thread.

I agree though, MN very snippy of late across all boards. Can see why lots of folk have drifted away.

Oliveoil · 13/03/2008 13:19

I post on SN and didn't realise it wasn't welcome

sorry

sd/vvv/OO it's not the regulars posting that have made it difficult, it's the fact that two posters joined the site purely to post on the MOS thread, yet neither of them posted on the in the news thread.

One suggested that parents felt jealous of the fact that JH had been able to abandon her child and the other, who claims to foster children with sn, claimed that parents of children with sn have all felt revolted by them at some point in their lives.

Oliveoil · 13/03/2008 13:30

ahhh, ok

sound like nice posters Wannabe

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/03/2008 13:30

oh fio I havent been on much tbh.

I'm just reading the blanket, somewhat sweeping comments without much background.

I spose you have to be both careful about what you post, knowing folk are going to read it without knowing background, and therefore careful what you read knowing you may not know the background.

In any case, all this in fighting is dull.

Hows the diet going? I've not seen you about on t'other thread???

pagwatch · 13/03/2008 13:31

Please please note - non SN people !!!!
please note that I have no problem with non -sn people on here. That is absoloutely not what I was saying.
I was just saying that it is hard when people have come to the SN board just to pick a fight - which several have.

This isn't 'in the news' or 'aibu' - it is a support thread - and the people invading just to have a pop are upsetting.
They also know they are and remain intent on persisting although covering all sorts of shite with mock shock "gosh darnit I haven't offended anyone have i". The people who are deliberatly picking fights know they are doing it because that is exactly the reason they came here.

Please feel free to 'visit'. I like that people are interested.

oh okay pag. That's cool

I dont discriminate about who I support/pat on the back/give manly punch on the arm/occasionally hugs () (or posts I'll post anywhere, me).

I dont post about my DD on here, but would hate to feel that excluded me.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/03/2008 13:35

oh, its going. Albeit slowly

Half a pound last week

Get back on the thread and we will nag support you
