Anyone's dc got cp and had the hip operation at all ??

dd is set to go into hospital in may to have her hip broken and realined as it has twisted so much due to her condition at the same time there also doing her other legs achiles tendon -she had one leg done last yr but the other one now needs doing

just wondered if anyone could share on this at all ???

Sorry fairydust I don't have experience of this - my dd has recently been diagnosed with spastic diplegia and we're at the very begining of it all so not sure what the future will hold in terms of treatment.. Best of luck for your dd and I hope someone else here will have more info for you.

thanks jenkey that is what my dd has althugh there are various different things that apply for each child xx

my dd had multi level surgery 2 years ago. I don't know if that is anything close,she had both femurs broken and rotated,the abductors and aducters lenghtened, muscles over the knees moved round to the sides, muscles in calf lenghtened,achiles lengthened and bits of bone put into feet to straighten them.As you can imagine it was a big operation and took a long time to get over ( there is still room for improvement), however her legs are much straighter now.

initialy for 3 weeks and then another week a few months later for extra physio

not yet but its pretty sure dd will need hip sockets made and be in a stinly cast for 6 weeks. Not looking forward to it.

dd is due to have her op in may she's in in the 25th for a gal assesment
