Voice typing app for autistic 7 yr old?

I'm not sure what exactly it is but school mentioned we could try some kind of computer program that DS could use to dictate some of his work as he is unable to write well.
They didn't give me any clue about what this program might be though, I wondered if anyone else has used someone like this and could advise please?

Unfortunately I don't have good computer skills but we have an iPad so an app would be best, if possible.

Microsoft Word and Google Docs have pretty basic speech to text built in which might be worth a try? Both should be available as apps on the iPad. There's Dragon (dictation software) but it's complicated to use and don't think there's an iPad version.

For speech to text software have a look at Dragon software. It can be used on an iPad.
