Looking to be a personal assistant for SN child or young adult...any experience?

I am currently trying to get as much experience as I can with SN individuals. I have been reading about direct payments and parents looking for flexible help with their children etc.I have spent a fair amount of time with disabled children in a voluntary capacity over the years, but have no formal qualifications. Can anyone offer advice as to how I get involved and find a family who might be in need of help?

I am living in Cardiff, and have my own transport so can travel to surrounding areas. I am a 23 year old non-smoker with a very recent enhanced CRB disclosure. So if anyone knows of anyone with children of any age who may want help, let me know!

thanks in anticipation

Try ringing SS and let them know you're available. Or ask for the direct payments support team and tell them. I found someone that way. Or look in the paper- lots of ads for PAs in ours.

Thanks yurt I will try SS. Been looking in the papers, nothing much here! One adult, so Ive applied for that. Someone told me about an agency which has a branch in Cardiff so I have also contacted them.

What does a parent look for in a personal assistant for their child? I have mixed experience but no relevent childcare qualifications...
