Friendship advice for autistic 5 year old

Does anyone have advice on books or approaches to help a 5 year old make friends? He's in mainstream reception, and is doing ok - mostly joins in, generally no meltdowns at school and happy. He has one very close friend, but of course this wobbles sometimes - he decides he doesn't want to play with his friend, or his friend runs away with others and won't play with him. We'd like to help him to interact more kindly with others, and make other friends too. Any ideas?

Usborne All about friends and All about feelings. Very neurodiversity affirming and positive.

His school could also set up a small group to help develop his social skills and friendships.

Thank you both! I've ordered those books. We're going to meet his year 1 teacher for next year so will ask

At this age the teachers can help by educating the rest of the class on neurodiversity and scaffolding friendships with other kids in the class.
