ASD, noise sensitivity and sitting still for an x-ray? any advice?

my ds fell off the sofa on Friday, landed badly and we took him to the minor injury unit at the local hospital, ds was really good (he is nearly 4) the nurse spent ages with him, she seemed very experienced (the doctor couldn't come up from the local surgery)... but said to get an x-ray.

ds's ring finger wasn't sitting right, so the lovely nurse and dh took ds into the x-ray room, not very nice lady in there ... anyway they just about got ds sitting to get an x-ray when they turned the machine on, ds hated the noise and immediately covered his ears, with his hands and would not put his hand down for the x-ray, so we had to give up....

the nurse and dh came out, nurse said to take him home keep an eye on him and if we were worried come back, I have been away, just got back and I am still worried about ds's finger, the nurse thinks he has dislocated it , at the knuckle... so tomorrow I am going to speak to the doctor? maybe and see what they advise, get them to look at it, what can I do about the noise?

anyone dealt with something similar?

any way you could get hold of ear plugs or ear defenders? or you cover his ears with your own hands?

ds1 needed an x ray on his ankle. Ended up with 4 of us sitting on him- still didn't get the pic they needed. It was bloody awful tbh.

The only thing that worked for some (non painful!) pictures was for me to countdown from 10 - whilst 2 of us held the leg in place and dh held the top half- he then lay still - but he just wouldn't let us to the painful positions (so they didn't get to see the bit they needed to see).
