We got our respite through Social Services. 4 hours a week, but not doing it as respite, we're using it instead for someone to go to out of school activities with J.

Was actually quite painless once we got accepted onto the disability team at Social Services. That's the only route I know.

have you not got a local respite care home for children nearby most areas do have them they are run independantly and registered they have there own nurses and alot time care as to how much time you or your child needs and for what reasons sorry i cant be of more help but this is the way i did it for my son a few years ago. what kind of care do you need for her?

we got dd a social worker from the CHAD team. Its been a long fight but we've now been awarded direct Payments for 17 hours respite a week. An agency carer comes and looks after dd for 3 hours at a time on Mon, Wed, Fri and Sunday,

sorry but dd is 12 so hard to remeber.
but just remember that you are not asking for a favour. you need this help. also I always remind them how much the care would cost if dd was in their care.
