Forgive my little celebration but I know you'll understand! Ds (8 LD/asd) actually managed to keep upright on unstabilised 2 wheel bike yesturday!

And then he woke up this morning with a dry bed! Ok so the bed is a rare thing and I don't need to retire the washing machine just yet but perhaps a little step forward!

I'm desperate to get my ds(deaf and dyspraxic) onto two wheels so well done to your ds!!!!!!!

dustystar · 11/02/2008 09:49

Thats great

Well done to your ds magso.

I'm going to try and get my ds to tackle two wheels again this summer, up to now he's been too scared to even try.

lottiejenkins · 11/02/2008 16:14

y ds is scared to try too! hes got too comfortable and secure on his bike with adult stabilisers!

magso · 11/02/2008 20:21

Thanks guys ! Ds hasn't discovered (logical) fear yet - so I guess that does have its uses. He hasn't mastered avoiding lamposts yet (mind you he still walks into those)so it will be a while before he is er safe on 2 wheels!

I can imagine you frantically running behind him

Congratulations! We're going to try again when our local park is less muddy!
Can I ask if you use bed-mats? Only that I think they make my DS confident to wet the bed; but I can't cope with the floods otherwise!

magso · 11/02/2008 23:04

Macwoozy- yes it is the only way to keep the park safe! We had to stop due to parental exhaustion! Ds is very chuffed!
Catok- yes we do use washable bedmats but as ds won't sleep on them he has a sheet over the top. Perhaps your ds will feel less secure if you hide one under sheet though it does increase the washing! Mattress is encased in waterproof cover also. After much experimentation I now use a very thin cotten duvet (without a cover) instead of a sheet (which goes in the wash next day as nesessary) and a thick duvet which hopefully doesnt! It used to be 3 wet beds a night (nappies leak or get discarded) so a whole dry night without a nappy is something to celebrate! More sleep for me!!
