What benefits can be received for a child that has received middle rate DLA?

Depending on your earnings you may be able to apply for carer’s allowance.

If you receive UC or CTC you will receive a disabled child element.

Other that this, is there any other discounts my son would be entitled too? Eg. Council tax reduction? Etc?

Other than CA and an increased amount of UC/CTC/HB there aren’t other benefits MRC DLA entitles you to. You may be eligible for council tax reduction or discount but that’s separate to DLA - for example, you may be entitled to a band reduction if you have an extra bathroom, kitchen or other room that you need for the disabled person or extra space inside the property for using a wheelchair.

There are other non-benefit things you can apply for depending on DC’s age e.g. a CEA card, disabled railcard, 2 year old nursery funding. If DC is 3 or 4 and in childcare they can apply for Disability Access Funding. MRC DLA automatically qualifies DC for these. Many places give a free carer’s ticket.

Depending on your circumstances others things you/DC may be eligible for but not automatically are: Family Fund and other grants, blue badge, disabled bus pass, WaterSure, DFG, reimbursement of travel costs to some appointments.
