I have a 10 year old boy who recently diagnosed autistic. We are trying to find friends or play date opportunity with other kids. He is very excited to meet new friends but finds it hard to maintain friendships at school. We live in Harrow and open to meet in any part of London

Have you got anywhere near you that runs SEN sessions such as soft play, climbing, sports clubs? These are good places to meet local families.

Yes but we are looking for other families with autistic kids as I have heard they tend to socialize better with each other. I was looking for someone in this community who would be interested in a meet-up!

Yes I understand that but there will be other autistic children at these sessions too which is why I mentioned it. Anyway, I’m sure there are lots of Londoners on MN.

Does your council run parent support sessions? The actual sessions aren't always that useful, but might give you the chance to meet other parents. If he's at a largish school you could ask if they'd consider running a group for the autistic children, although this possibly works better at secondary.
However be aware that autistic children don't always get on with each other. Ironically my DD is triggered by children behaving like she does.

Hi,

Our 6 year old boy is neurodivergent (has been diagnosed as being on the ASD Spectrum and he also has traits of ADHD).

He gets on very well with his younger sister but we are keen for him to meet other boys around his age and make friendship bonds. He is very keen to, and loves people, but his challenges make it difficult for him to secure friendships at school. He struggles with the aspects of friendship that other children don’t seem to find difficult and he is inevitably a bit isolated as a result.

We are based in Greenwich.

Hi I’ve recently become a single mum and live with my son who is 12. He has autism and is pre verbal but very loving. Would love to meet other mums with special needs children in the Suffolk area for play dates etc?. We live in Stowmarket. Thanks for reading
