The Tavistock clinic? Isn't that psychotherapy ? (ignore me if I'm wrong). Id be wary of psychotherpay and potential AS- not a good combination imo.

no personal experience but this is their web page with info about programme for aspergers/asd. It seems quite sensible, like yurt I am a bit as to the role of psychotherapy, but it doesn't seem to be all that's on offer.

I agree with Yurt. The Tavi is NOT the place to go for a dx. You need to see a Developmental Paediatrician. It is psychotherapy which has its place imo for hf/AS people who can engage in their so-called interventions. BUT I feel very strongly that they cannot offer anything about development, rather the reaction/feelings towards it not being typical iyswim. I live very near to the Tavi and have been to a couple of their conferences about ASD - very alarming! I'm not totally knocking it in all situations but I don't think it is any good at all for dx, for vulnerable parents etc. I went to one conference where a lot of people in the audience were quite upset, a handful of parents and a lot of professionals. Among other things, they showed various "case studies" and a typicl example of their assessment was "mother depressed, father mostly absent"..... therefore child has developed behaviours/difficulties due to emotional issues NOT the obvious that the father and mother are this way BECAUSE of the issues that pre-exist in their child. Aargh! I could go on and on. If you are being offered someone to talk to, someone to help you engage with your child and someone eventually for your child to talk to then fine but not for anything fundamental about dx, education, diet etc etc.
