Just reading through our latest neuro report, and I can't work out from the report what this means and can't even find a straightforward meaning through google... I think my brain is turning to mush from reading too much this morning! Could someone please help me out with what this means?

I have just looked it up and the dictionary definition of stereotypy in this context is "abnormal repetition or persistence of a fixed idea or movement, esp in autism." (Word originally comes from printing, where you'd use a stereotype to print the same thing again and again).I also found this: body stereotypies would be things like hand flapping or rocking; object stereotypies would be stuff like lining up toys; and verbal stereotypies would be use of echolalia or odd repetition of words. I hope that helps a bit, and I've probably given you way too much info as I am quite interesed in words anyway, but I do know what you mean about brain turning to mush on this stuff!

Aha! It would help then if they spelled it correctly on the report! Now at least the report does make sense. Thanks so much for all the info!!
