background - DD, age 11, ASD, in autism specialist school.
Twice in the past week, when distressed she has said she’s going to kill herself!
Today she said she was going to find a knife and kill herself at school, also, that they won’t see her tomorrow as she’s going to find a knife at home and kill herself.
We 100percent feel that this is just something she’s started saying in the moment, when cross or upset, with no intention of actually carrying it out. I think the teacher believes so too, but they obviously have to keep a close eye on it and he has had to log it as a concern with the school senior leadership team! So that it two logs in the space of less than a week.
What happens next in SEN schools in this instance or what will they do? What if more logs are raised?
She is already under CAMHS for anxiety and on medication. She has been coping quite well recently, but is very hormonal and has some very intense specific triggers causing her severe and aggressive meltdowns.
She has had a tough day at school and they have supported her throughout, someone always with her due to the suicide threat.
She’s happy and relaxed this evening!
