Dear all

* Medication for Autistic kids: Ritalin or Vyvanse *

We are thinking of resorting to medication so that our 7 years autistic son would hopefully improve ...hd also has ADHD....However, we are still very reluctant...

has anyone had any experience or advice to share?

I know every child is different and every case is a case but we are here to share snd advice each other about our ups and downs

Please let me know.

Many thanks

Depends what you get prescribed!!! How can you pick?
unfortunately it’s seems you need to try every one - whether he has bad side effects.
Also I strongly believe it depends if you believe your son is more ASD or ADHD - ASD generally carries more anxiety which isn’t great for adhd meds as lots have side effects of anxiety which can fuel them to potentially make the situation worse x

Thanks for your time and answer...

Anxiety is a big word for a 7 year old boy...

I was told that Ritalin 's maximum efficiency is 3-6 months

I know a mum who has been trying different meducations for 3 years !!

I was advised to work harder with my son teach him.life skills extra during the time where the medication is efficient...

What is worrying me is how would his performance/regression after the medication us stopped...hopefully not worse?

What is your experience please?

Thanks again for your time.
