This is my first post and I apologise if anything I ask has been dealt with previously.
My son is 11 with Aspergers and MLD and I am currently dealing with his transfer to Secondary school in Wiltshire. He is being offered 12.5 hours support with a Named Pupil Allowance from the LEA and the school will cover 10 hours support, including lunchtime.
I am convinced he will need more support and I am today sending my submission to the LEA disagreeing with the Statement and requesting a meeting, more in hope than expectation that more will be available.
Is there anyone out there who has been through this and can offer any advice, support or suggestions - anything at all that will help me through this? I have managed so far to deal with everything that having an AS/MLD child has thrown at me, but this is completely panicking me. He attends a primary school which has been completely supportive and is going to be transferred to a school 3 times larger, with less support and all the difficulties of getting himself to lessons with the right kit at the right time.
There are times when I am just so scared for him, not just going to secondary school, but the whole question of his future.
Any words of encouragement would be gratefully received.
