Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

What would you do if the school doesn't support you but have nice friends for DS and nice parents group ?

My son has ASD and in year 3 goes to mainstream school. We've changed his school 15months ago and settled in really well with peers.
Even though he doesn't play with his peers but his friends really help him and calm him down when he is upset. He made really good friends in the class.
If I talk about the school, it's absolute rubbish school for SEN kids as they haven't provided 1-1 as they didn't have enough funding..
And it's my mistake that I have
followed up with the school that he is getting 1-1 for the first 3 months. Then I had another baby and I totally forgot to follow up. I have raised regarding 1-1 and they said they doesn't have enough funding. They aren't even offering for part time for time being.

I am in dilemma to change his school or not. Couple of schools mentioned by other SEN parents are 1mile and 2 miles away from where I live but in same LA. Bit difficult with baby and work !!
I am thinking about transition and friends.. we are planning to change the school in secondary any way..
What would you people recommend... TIA for your valuable suggestions

Does DS have an EHCP specifying and quantifying 1:1? Without that it is unlikely any school will provide ongoing 1:1.

If DS doesn’t have an EHCP and you think he needs more support you can apply for one yourself.

If the school need more funding they can apply for high needs top up funding.

If DS does have an EHCP and it specifies and quantifies 1:1 you can enforce the provision, via Judicial Review if necessary. If it doesn’t specify and quantify 1:1 and is woolly and vague it isn’t worth the paper it is written on and you can’t enforce it, if this is the case you should try to tighten it up.
