How do you tell the difference? Lots of asd kids have uncontrollable laughter. How do u tell if its a gelastic seizure or not?

In august 2021 by then 5 year old had a sezuire while he slept on the plane, we had to land the plane in Germany while there he had a EEG it was clear then we had MRI that was clear too, we put it down to air pressure and tiredness but then 6 months later we went to a party then 6 hours later while he was sleeping he had another sezuire lasted 1min, now we sleep with him as so scared to leave him alone, we have been told he has epilepsy as it has happened two times, they now want to give him pills twice a day (we are seeing doctors in June to discuss) wanted to find out if anyone else has had this with their child and has any advice, my son will also never take pills, is a terrible eater so it’s hard to hide in foods etc just so worried how we will do this
