calling Mamadadawahwah - I need to pick your brains (on blinking...)

Hi MMDDWW, you are light years ahead of me in research, I have only just come across taurine and you had already covered this ground and a lot more... maybe you can point me in the right direction?

My son has been gluten-free and dairy-light for over 2 years and I am blown away by neurological improvements in him, but he has developed excessive blinking, esp when nervous/excited - and predominantly with right eye.
He had a bioresonance test a few months ago and it has picked up active measles virus - must be the beastly vaccine he had - and I suspect that this is affecting him when it comes to blinking. He has not been on any medication and he has detoxed really well through diet and juicing - even his hair has changed texture.
I know that in US some nutritionists/homeopaths have the treatment that aims to de-activate the effects of vaccines, but I would like something close to home.
Have you come across any literture or treatment in your experience that could help withthis sort of a problem?

Sorry to gatecrash!
I don't know anything about blinking or much else that you are talking about TBH, but my son has been seeing a homeopath for about 6 months now, and it has made and ENORMOUS difference to him.

Not a doctor, only passing on what other parents and practitioners say about measles etc.

vitamin A protocol might help. You take high dose vitamin A for two days ONLY. This is supposed to bring out the virus in the gut and hopefully help to detox/rid body of it. Not foolproof and some die off/behaviours.

its pretty complicated to go into other stuff regarding measles virus and it effects a lot of things and there is LOTS you could be doing.

what about getting yourself a practitioner? there are plenty in the UK. Jean Muscroft is good (google her) and very reasonable. She has a daughter with a spectrum condition.

the blinking - dont know. My son pokes at his eyes/jabs them and this is usually due to nutrient deficiency like zinc.

blinking could be that he has vision anomolies, or it could even be he enjoys it? what do you do when he does this? do you do anything that might reinforce it? or is he just doing it constantly.

Check the inside of his eyelids for small nodes or cysts.

kids with ASD's often have visual probs that we cant even comprehend. If you read Kaplan's book on autism and vision, its very revealing how some people with ASD see the world. Maybe the blinking is his way of coping with too much going on around him?

maybe you could let us know more about his physical presentation. are there other probs he might have which might point to a nutritional imbalance?
I am sure others will add in here.

p.s. if you want me to post the vitamin a protocol, let me know.

if your child has measles virus, good chance he might have some other things going on too.

have you considered applying to the caudwell trust to get funding to pursue biomedical properly????

vitamin A related stuff with eyes would tend to result in lots of sideways looking. DS1's was massively improved with cod LIVER oil (nordic naturals a good brand) unfortunately we can't get it into him now (and all the visual stuff has come back).

Some visual stuff can be due to problems with other senses. Contrary to popular belief not all children with autism are strong visually (and supposedly those that are tend to be HF). Problems with things like depth perception can lead to weird visual stuff as well. Those will also be improved with cod liver oil.

Really appreciate your thoughts and advice guys, and I am homeopathy convert too.

I have ordered Kaplan's book from the library.

My son hasn't been diagnosed with autism as such, but had a number of autistic traits that were firmly swept under the carpet of another genetic condition. The medical profession practically wrote him off (and me in the process), but the improvements are incredible, so I am not stopping now. He had lack of eye contact, learning difficulties, loosing speech, balance and basically his body was slowly shutting down (progressive neurological deterioration).

He was getting worse, until I tried the diet, omega fats and a few other nutrition-based things. Once he started improving, there is no stopping me.

One thing we discovered completely by chance was that he has low stomach acids and impaired liver and pancreas functions - just as well I wasn't pushing for any high doses of anything (one nutritionist recommended that but I wasn't comfortable, so I started slowly), or the detox would have been too much. Funnily enough, I recently started giving him vit A+D3 and in last few days extra vit C (not megadoses), maybe this is part of the die-off you are talking about. I am quite certain that the low enzymatic functions are connected to gluten damage, so I have to very careful here, esp with fat-soluble vits, but some idea of the protocol would be helpful if you can point me in the right direction please.

I will look into cauldwell trust, but please tell me what else might be going on with measles virus (or at least where to look).

I just have to do it slowly and need to understand each step fully before doing it. I also I promised my son to limit needles as much as poss, so have to respect that.

But the payoff has been truly fantastic so far and I will continue.

Thank you again MMDDWW, Nat, yurt - so glad there are people like you out there, I wish Jean Muscroft wasn't so far away from me.

I meant to add re: blinking, it's rather a twitch/tic sort of thing, as it also affects his facial muscles, it's one-sided.

He also has noticeably sweaty palms..

Im not recommending this because I have no experience (Im not sure I even believe in it) but I did read about isopaths some sort of specialist hoeopaths to who treat vaccine damage by giving the same substance.

"Isopathy refers to the decision to ignore the symptom picture and give the substance which caused the problem in the first place. It is common in isopathy to give a product of a disease (nosode) for the disease itself, thus administering the same thing in an attenuated form. Many people use it as a short cut to repertorizing.

My Ds was very sweaty until I removed all casein from his diet.

Have a look at yahoo autism boimedical groups.

nightcat · 04/01/2008 18:45

Thank you staryeyed, I will look into this, homeopaths also use nosodes.., I need to find one who has experience of autism; my friend who is a homeopath has no experience of vaccine reversal beyond mercury removal etc (she wouldn't threat him anyway, being a friend), she tends to treat soon after vaccines, when symptoms are obvious.

Funny you said about casein, we find it hard to ditch that, gluten was relatively easy, but I can't force him to go dairy free (although I am and yes, I noticed that I could pretty much go w/o deodorants). But it's his palms only, the other sweaty places are fine.
His bioresonance was OK just for sheep's dairy, the rest were definitely incompatible, he only gets dairy very lightly, but I will maybe try a test period without.
Appreciate your comments.

Nightcat, I have never met jean muscroft. she works by phone email, as she does for most of her clients. been with her for years.

mamadadawahwah · 04/01/2008 22:43

phone her up and get an initial consult with her. write to her email address and explain your son to her and see what she says. i am sure she will have paths of direction for you especially re viruses, measles or otherwise.

our son is full of them, and not just measles. its a whole host of things you might need to do to eliminate.

nightcat · 05/01/2008 09:14

thank you MMDDWW, I will write to JM, I am very grateful for your feedback
