What is it like to have a baby with Downs Syndrome?

Sorry if this is very sensitive.

Our screening came back one in forty chance. We badly want this baby and we are waiting for a NIPT result. I would like to be as prepared as possible in the meantime. Thank you.

Hello, I can see noone has responded so just didn't want to leave you unanswered. Facebook and the Future of Downs group is a better place for traffic. My experience may or may not be typical but my DD was a lovely baby, sleepy but healthy. The hard part was having a lot of extra appointments, as she also has hearing loss and hypothyroidism. Also people were a little over interested in her and I frequently had old ladies cooing around her pram. I found it hard not to worry, still do. Best advice would be for you to speak to a variety of other parents.
