Explaining autism to other kids? Any resources?

Our 5 Yr old has autism - our 7 year old and some very close cousins (ranging from 2 to 8) obviously don’t understand what’s going on.

7 year old in particular feels that his brother is getting a lot of unfair special treatment, and it’s causing issues.

Are there any good resources that might help us explain things?

Bumping for you, as I am interested in any answers you may get. It's the other way round for us - eldest 8yo DS is autistic and his younger brother is 3.

I'm also interested in this. Our youngest is 4 and waiting to be diagnosed and our eldest is 6 and struggling to understand.

I think until DS2 started school, our eldest just thought that DS2 was still a baby and so kind of ignored any quirks/oddities.

Now that DS2 is in reception it’s so obvious that he isn’t like the other kids.

We’ve tried quite a matter of fact “DS2’s brain works a little differently, so sometimes he needs to do things differently” but DS1 can’t really distinguish it from being naughty, and thinks it’s very unfair that DS2 gets away with stuff or gets special treatment. I’m thinking there must be books or something or TV shows with Autistic characters?

Np. Am autistic myself and thinking of using it to explain a bit better to some small children of my acquaintance

There’s a picture book called I see things differently which aims to help explain autism to siblings and classmates. Might be worth a look.

Thank you @openupmyeagereyes I will have a look
