AUTISM: EMOTIONAL CRYING FOLLOWED BY OUTBURST OF HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER

Since my son (asd 5yo) was 1 he would have bouts of excessive laughter. I would really like to know what causes this. If you are an autism parent or asd adult please share ur thoughts on why asd kids do this?

I dont believe them to be any kind of laughing seizures. He doesnt appear to be in pain or unable to respond while laughing. He can stop if i tell him to quiet down. But it looks bizare. Sometimes its the laughing alone. But if he is upset and starts emotionally crying....he will almost always go into a laughing fit.

What is this? Is he trying to regulate his emotions?
Please let me know what you think

Thanks

DD used to do it years ago but it stopped around the end of primary school age. At the time I thought it was a response to raised anxiety levels.

Could it be a sensory response?
