DD failing subjects but high scores on the WISC test???!

My DD is 8 and in year 4 after fighting with school for extra support I shelled out for a private diagnostic report. I suspected DD is dyslexic which was proved correct but most of the WISC scores were really high, the pyschologist can't understand why she's scoring working towards for all her subjects apart from Art. She had a melt down in the middle of the report asked to repeat the test , if she gets one answer wrong she will give up and have a meltdown. She has done lovely art works but if she makes a slight mistake (at home ) she will scream cry and throw the work and start again this behaviour never happens at school. She's a huge perfectionist the pyschologist discussed possibly getting DD assessed for ASD I don't believe this fits her at all she's very sociable acts like the leader has tons of friends her best friends are older than her .

Her father has ASD and I suspect I do too but she seems to understand socialising very well and actually leads the other children. Could anyone have an idea what it could be ?

Ask the psychologist to compare the general ability score with the cognitive proficiency score, is there a difference?

…If there is a difference that that may illuminate a specific area of need.

Alternatively it could be that despite her ability, she isn’t being taught in a way that she responds to - eg if her verbal comprehension is low then she’ll likely need visual resources to supplement all verbal input.

The EP should really be offering a number of hypotheses as to what’s going on…

Finally - you can have autism and be ok at socialising! Smile Presentation is different in girls. It wouldn’t harm to get her assessed if one or perhaps both of her parents are autistic Smile

Yes I just had a short chat with her on the phone she will compile the report next week. Which hopefully I will be able to make more sense of .

She wants me to contact senco on Monday as she believes she's masking heavily at school which is causing her anxiety and the outbursts. She has zero difficulties with socialising has tons of friends and is very confident but maybe because of her ability she has been able to work out social situations quickly?
