Benefits of ASD diagnosis

Hi.

I have a 5 year old who luckily now has an EHCP and on the list to be assessed for ASD. I have often wondered if getting a private diagnosis is worthwhile and what the benefits for the diagnosis would be now we have this EHCP? Advice appropriated 😁

Other than DS, you and others having a greater understanding of DS and his needs, one big benefit is access to services that require a diagnosis e.g. autism ARP or SS, autism outreach team etc.

Unless you are desperate for DS to attend an autism specialist provision now personally I wouldn't bother with a private ASD assessment, but would remain on the NHS list.
