Can I ask parents how they talk to their SEND kids about topics like stranger danger or personal safety - eg no touching under clothes rules etc.
My ASD kid is 7. His verbal understanding is more like a 5 year old. We haven't raised any of these topics with him yet because he simply didn't have the ability to comprehend that sort of stuff until recently. He needs clear specific rules, he doesn't manage ambiguity well and he's forgetful. He also has a lot of anxiety triggered by Covid, growing realisation of death etc. So I'm trying to strike a balance between giving him messages he can understand and remember and not scaring the crap out of him.
Any useful nuggets of wisdom welcome!
