DLA and Carers Allowance - how has it benefited you?

We've recently been awarded DLA, and I have applied for Carers.

The DLA is going to make a huge difference to my DC's life in terms of what I can access for them now.
I do know a few things that it will be put towards for DC, I just wondered what others spent their money on too.

Also, if I get Carers, I fully intend on allocating that money on things to help make my life slightly easier - any suggestions would be great.
What type of things made the difference for you?

DS's DLA and my carer's allowance goes into the family pot as I can't work because of their needs. It doesn't come close to covering the costs of meeting their needs. It goes towards increased gas, electric, water, food, fuel/parking costs. As well as buying equipment and funding private assessments and therapy and several extra curricular clubs to help with social skills and physio/fitness.

Same as @monstrousmayhem mainly goes towards bills because I cannot work at all, the mobility helps towards the running costs of my car etc.

I buy ds what he needs that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford, ds has been on DLA nearly 5 years now, over the years it’s paid towards doing his bedroom up, new bed / trampoline, sensory toys, few months block of speech therapy, shortly he’ll be starting 1-1 swim lessons. Replaces trainers he’s trashes in a week or throws out of the car window when I’m driving 😫 foods that only he eats I always stock up once a month, it helps with all sorts of things but the majority is towards household bills. Which still does benefit ds as I’m here 24/7 for him not working.
