My baby is all grown up

Well today dd1 had a little transition time at her mainstream school where she will start prep in January. She wore her uniform and spent an hour or so playing with the kids that are already at prep.

She had a ball - dh and I had tears in our eyes seeing her all dressed up in her uniform and hat.

SHe walked with me to school - about 5 minutes and then we went to the prep rooms. She chatted and greeted all the children that were there. She saw a couple of children from the special ed unit and one little boy would not leave me alone - he just wanted me to meet his prep friends.

SHe looks so grown up in her uniform. I took a couple of pics today in case the day is too overwhelming for her. Where did my baby go??

She was hilarious buying her uniform. We do not often get sentences but she said for each piece I tried on - "I don't like that!" including her hat which is the same as her kindy hat. Made me chuckle - uniform shop lady did not share my humour for some reason.

So think of me on 29 Jan when my baby starts formal schooling here in Aus.

She will start with a three/two split with three days at mainstream school and two days at the special ed unit and transition to full time by Oct ready for year one.

BUT she is all grown up - put her in a uniform and she looks so much older....

How lovely Eidsvold.. I know exactly what you mean about the uniform.

I will have to post the pic on ttr for you to check out.

she just spent all day going on about big school.

WHen I dropped her at kindy ( on my way to rush dd2 to swimming) - she made sure all the adults saw her and commented - she would tap them and then point at her uniform. The other kids were a little jealous and started then talking about their uniforms.

AH tell me about it! Am having a 'oh no wheres my baby gone' day today as ds1 is 8 today. taht's like, halfway to legally able to get married!

DS3 has a trial day at school this week as well- helP! Although he doesn't do unifrom yet, they're letting him attend in the PE kit (a jogging suit) for everyones ease.

Bless her Eidsvold, she sounds so cute

peachy - am worried how choked up dh and I will get when no3 heads off to Prep as she is our last.... at least whilst I feel all emotional about dd1 - it is for lots of reasons and she is not my last so I have two more times to go through it.
