I am aware of a social group for kids with ASD near central Liverpool. Racking my brains to remember any other details.

There is also a local support group based in Anfield in Liverpool called PIGs (Parent Information Group) for ASD/other communication disorders -

www.pigweb.co.uk/meeting-dates.htm - they should know of anything suitable.

In general I would have thought that a very "task" oriented group would be better than a bogstandard youth club - reduces the social pressure. Say swimming lessons/drama club/martial arts lessons if any of those are his cup of tea.

btw I live in Liverpool, if you are ever interested in meeting for a coffee. My little boy is much younger than yours - 3.8, has v. delayed speech - will at the very least get diagnosed with language disorder and quite possibly with HFA - if we ever manage to get him seen by paed!!!
