Not sure if its in my head but every once in a while i give my son melatonin to help with sleep and he suddenly starts getting these scared fits. Where he suddenly gets so scared he starts screaming and shaking. While awake not during sleep.

Is this normal? I wont give him ever again because this happens every time i give him iv noticed. This is the 2nd time this has happened.

Anyone else have this experience?

This happens to me if I take it, it's utterly horrifying, almost a state of psychosis.

I have a friend whose son experiences the same.

Don't feel bad! It is extremely rare that anyone has this level of bad effects from melatonin, though I do think there needs to be more discussion about the side effects generally, as melatonin isn't benign.

We have given Melatonin to our son and it did not go too well. It made him more awake and restless! So we stopped. My husband and I also noticed that when he has had a good dinner, he sleeps better.
