OMG, I am so sorry...I have just read the whole thread.....

Vertbaudet use to do(not sure if they stil do) a bedding set with a quilt cover that zipped onto the bottom sheet IYKWIM, i think it was designed originaly for bunk beds. but it would be perfect for this problem.
