Those of you that have home-school books

do they just list incidents, or do they say what was done as a response?

DS's book is just a list of he hit someone, pushed someone, etc etc etc- but no mention of any sanctions etc. today he came home with one that says 'he threw all the books around the cloakroom, upset Mrs X by being silly and then was found with his hands around someone's neck'- no mention of any sanctions though! Do I assume they're not bothering, or what? I want to be able to tie home sanctions (and I can hardly allow an attempted throttling to go unmentioned!) with school ones, or at least know something is being done! Can't speak to teacher without an appointment as they don't come out to meet parents any time.

That doesn't sound good peachy. I get daily handovers from ds TA and teacher as well as stuff written in the home/school book. It doesn't always state what sanctions were used but thats because I have a copy of the plan that they use with ds and so i know what sort of things they will be doing. His TA always tells me anything significant anyway.

If i was you i'd arrange a meeting and ask for better communication.

My Ds is at special school and they usually say either 'it has been dealt with' or tell me what sanction was exacted (missed his turn/ spoken to hm etc). Oh dear what is it about attempted throtling - Ds put on TV restriction after hurting another childs neck today- but at least they tell me!

Ours i just an icident list (would like positive stuff too!), and the throttling oje came back a day late as well so DS1 doesn't even remember the incident! (to tidy the playroom alone was the sanction, as if he's hurting poeple we cant allow ds2 in there with him, but he won't do it as can't remember incident- sigh)

I shall ahve to follow this one up I guess!

I think you will peachy.

Its one thing for them to deal with the incident the way they see fit and you not need to be involved with that but you still need to know what is happening and what they are doing about it. I'm sure they'd expect you to tell them about significant incidents at home. After all the more info you and they have a better picture you have of ds and how he is doing.

Ooh - and there should definitely be positive stuff on there too!
