I have just heard Lewis Hamilton talking on Parkinson about his brother being his inspiration, he talked about his brothers cp and how he gets on with his life. Was very moving!!!

Gah! Missed Lewis, turning it on after he had been interviewed. Anyone know if it is repeated? I have trawled my Radio Times to no avail. I know lots of people don't agree, but I respect Dave as we all know that he has been through certain things and understands certain things that others just don't..... because of Ivan. Someone on here a while ago said it was alright for him with his £ and nannies..... but we all know that doesn't make it alright at all. And who would care if Tony Bliar or others have nannies? That's OK but not Dave to make sure Ivan and his other children are looked after as well as possible. Plus (turning into a rant) I have a few friends who are very well off and who have children with ASD. They still can't access a school place or respite etc except through the system and they need to secure their child's RIGHTS. But they all work tirelessly and give £ to the services they use, really help other people in the same situation and make big donations to charidee.....

Nothing wrong with Nannies. But do those with nannies really know what its like to struggle to every appointment, entertaining a severely disabled child all day, being with a child who screams 24 hours a day all while making endless phone calls to SS/wheelchair services etc.
I doubt it. You just can't appreciate how hard it is. Dave and his wife appear to be out at work all day. DH and I spend all day with dd, and all night, as DH had to give up work to help look after dd. Its a whole different world.
But I do hope that Dave will have an inkling - although the accessibility at this years Conservative Conference wasn't very good and their disabitlty policies aren't great.

And then alot of them also have either the resources, or the power, to push for a place where there state has let them down - not mentioning any names but I am sure you know who I mean...

I didn't know about LH and his brother.

It was very moving to hear LH talk about his brother, he was saying that his brother was his motivation to do the best that he can in everything he does!

Lots of people without nannies, ££ may have more family to help out/support (or not as we often say!). Its all a mix & match for every family, especially when disability/SN is involved. I doubt whether the nanny takes Ivan to every appointment, writes every Parents Input, makes all the decision, decides to change things etc etc.

Well said Davros, I have either my sister who comes to all my appointmens with me or my sons link carer because i dont drive, however i fill all the forms out and i am the one at the end of the day who gets the flack when im on my own with my ds!!
